'Nothern Areas' affairs improving'

Islamabad: Faisal Saleh Hayat, Kashmir affairs and Northern Areas minister, on Friday said the situation in the Northern Areas was improving.He was talking to a delegation led by Siraj ul Haq, NWFP senior minister, which called on him at Parliament House. Sardar Shahjehan Yusuf, parliamentary secretary of the Kashmir affairs and Northern Areas ministry and Hanif Abbasi, member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Rawalpindi, were also present.The minister said he had summoned a special session of the Northern Areas Legislative Council on February 28 where the restoration of peace in the Northern Areas would be discussed. The interests of the Gilgit trader community would be protected he said, adding they would be provided with compensation following the recent rains. Siraj ul Haq assured the cooperation of the NWFP government and its people to restore peace in the region.
