Maqbool Butt's Sacrifice Projects Kashmir's Plight

Srinagar: The chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Forum (JKLF) Javed Ahmad Mir today said that the 'sacrifice' offered by late Maqbool Bhat has highlighted the plight of more than 14 million people living in both parts of Kashmir. According to a spokesman of the party, Mir was addressing his party workers here today. Mir said that Maqbool Bhat by laying down his life has set a tremendous example of sacrifice and it is necessary that Kashmiris pay glowing tributes to him. 'Maqbool Bhat sacrificed his life so that the plight of the people gets noticed on the international front and therefore, it is binding on us that we pay respect as well as homage to him', he said. The chairman of JKLF asked the people to observe the death anniversary of Maqbool Bhat on February 11 as a black day and that a complete strike should also be observed. He also appealed the people to organize the protest rallies on this day so that the people living in the outside world come to know that Kashmiris want to take the 'ongoing movement' to its logical conclusion. Mir urged all the world leaders to come forward and make it possible that the mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat are handed over to his relatives. He also welcomed the decision of observing February 5 as day of integration and appealed the Kashmiris living in other parts of globe to organize protest rallies highlighting the human rights violations going on in the state.
