J&K Highway, Other Roads Closed Due To Heavy Snowfall

Srinagar: The Jammu-Srinagar highway and several other roads in the state were today closed due to heavy snowfall, traffic authorities said here. It has been snowing heavily between 102 km and 112 km of Patnitop and Batote axis and 182 km to 220 km of Banihal and Jawahar tunnel area along the highway since yesterday, they said adding that vehicular traffic has also been suspended for the day. Jammu-Doda and Rajouri-Poonch roads were also closed for vehicular traffic due to accumulation of snow. Meanwhile, normal life in the Kashmir valley and Jammu division was disrupted due to snowfall and rains as the state continued to reel under severe cold conditions. Flights to and from Srinagar were cancelled yesterday due to heavy snowfall. PTI Jammu: As many as seven mortar shells are fired from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the forward areas of Manjakote in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, violating the ceasefire treaty between India and Pak, police sources say.
