Gilgit Calm And Peaceful

Gilgit: The District Magistrate Gilgit in a Press note stated on Wednesday that the curfew continued for the fifth day and two- hour break was provided from 2 PM to 4 PM to allow the people buy essential commodities of daily life. According to the Press- note issued by Deputy Commissioner, Sajid Baloch, the Corps Commander Rawalpindi, visited Gilgit on Wednesday to review the situation. Chief Secretary Fareed Khan briefed him regarding arrangements made by the Northern Area Administration for the safety and convenience of the general public. The Corps Commander also met different delegations of elected representatives, and religious parties. They condemned the tragic incidents of January 8 and demanded exemplary punishments for the culprits. All the people stranded in Sust and Hunza were transported down country by the Administration. This included some foreigners. The situation is completely under control and Army troops, Magistrates and Police are monitoring all places for public safety, the Press- note added. No instance of untoward incident was reported from any part of the city and the situation remained calm and peaceful.
