Mufti promises fair civic polls

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today promised free and fair civic body elections. There was no basis for fears that elections might be rigged. Talking to reporters here, the Chief Minister said, 'There is no basis for fears that elections may be rigged. The recently held elections in Jammu and Kashmir have testified to impartiality and fairness.' On the decision of the National Conference to take part in the civic body polls, he said, 'I welcome the announcement.' He considered the decision good for the development of democracy at the grassroots. He appealed to the people to take an active part in the polls by voting. Earlier at a function, the Chief Minister presented a promising industrial scenario of the State.
