Demo Against Gilgit Killings

Karachi: Shia Ulema Council Pakistan Sindh Chapter staged a demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club to protest against the Gilgit incident here Sunday. Addressing the demonstrators, Provincial President of the Council and MMA leader Allama Hassan Turabi condemned the murderous attack on the life of Syed Ziauddin Rizvi and termed it a conspiracy to foment sectarian strife in the Northern area. He said that Syed Ziauddin Rizvi has played an important role in creating brotherhood and sectarian harmony in the area, but the hidden forces were bent upon to fan hatred among the people. He demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and shifting of Aqa-i-Ziauddin to Islamabad for treatment. MCC flays Gilgit incident: Muttahida Coordination Committee has condemned the killing of 11 innocent people in Gilgit sectarian violence. The Committee said the killing of innocent people in Gilgit was aimed at creating sectarian riots in the country. It said that Islam is the religion of peace and those, who are creating hatred and chaos among faithful of different sects were neither sincere with their sects nor with Islam but they were using religion as a tool for their petty interests. Muttahida Coordination Committee urged people that they should show sectarian harmony in their ranks in order to foil such conspiracies.
