Jammu: Continuing with the process of de-induction of troops in Jammu and Kashmir, Army on Friday withdrew a thousand of its personnel from the border district of Poonch. A battalion comprising approximately one thousand personnel is moving towards a peace station outside the state, a defence spokesman said in Jammu. The de-induction process is being carried out in the state in keeping with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's announcement in this regard in Jammu and Kashmir last year, he said. The reduction of troops would be counter balanced and further streamlining operations so that the overall security environment remains unaffected, he said. The drawing down of troops in the state began from Anantnag district of Kashmir valley on November 18, 2004.
