Terrorists Attack Income Tax Office Building In Srinagar

Srinagar: Terrorists on Friday carried out a suicide attack by storming the Income Tax Office building in Srinagar, trigerring a fierce gunbattle with security personnel that left two securitymen and a terrorist dead, while five others including three senior officers were injured. The three-storey building housing the IT Department in Barbarshah locality was damaged in a devastating fire, which broke out soon after the terrorists stormed it at around 3.45 pm. However, people, mostly employees of I-T Department trapped inside the building, were rescued, CRPF spokesman Neeraj Kumar said. 'Hurling grenades and firing indiscriminately, two militants stormed the building around 3.45 pm, killing a security jawan on the spot and triggered a fierce gunbattle,' he said. One terrorist was still holed up inside the building and firing intermittently on the security forces, besieging the building from outside.
