63 Terrorists Surrender In J&K

Jammu: Responding to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed government's policy to rehabilitate terrorists, 63 terrorists, including seven top commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Toiba, have surrendered in Jammu and Kashmir in the past nine months.Thirty- seven of these terrorists had already got benefits under the state government's rehabilitation policy for surrendered terrorists, Home Ministry sources said. The remaining 26 were awaiting no objection from different security agencies before being granted the benefits, they said. The sources said ultras could be granted relief if they were not involved in heinous crimes like murder. They must also be acquitted by a court to avail the relief under the rehabilitation policy, they said. The 37 beneficiaries were given Fixed Deposit Receipts of Rs 1.50 lakh each. This can be encashed by them after three years.
