Omar Escapes IED Blast; Probe Ordered

Srinagar: The State Government has ordered a probe into the bid on the lives of National Conference president Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah at a graveyard remembrance for slain party minister Safdar Ali Baigh on Sunday.A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off when the NC president reached the graveyard at a place in south Kashmir's Anantnag town to attend the ceremony. Two civilians were badly wounded in the blast that hit several cars, including the electronic frequency jammer vehicle that always stays at the front of the Abdullahs' cavalcade.
