Vote counting process begins in Northern Areas

Gilgit: The process of counting votes for the election of twenty four members of Northern Areas Legislative Council began exactly after the ending of polls at 1600 hours on Tuesday. Voters present in the premises of the polling stations have been allowed to cast their vote after the expiry of time. Election Commissioner Northern Muhammad Ghazi Khan in an interview said that the polling at some stations in Gilgit District could not be started due to the late arrival of polling staff and extra time would be given to the voters to cast their vote. Chief Secretary Northern Areas Mr. Farid Khan and Inspector General of Police Sheikhi-Ullah Tareen said polling was held in a peaceful manner and no untoward incident has been reported.
