Fidayeen Strike Dal Lake Hotel

Srinagar: In the third suicide attack on the CRPF in less than two months, two Al-Mansurian militants tonight stormed a hotel housing the 94 Battalion of the force on the banks of the Dal Lake, injuring an officer and two soldiers. Exploding grenades and opening indiscriminate fire, the ultras stormed Hotel York around 9.30 p.m. and engaged the troops in a fierce encounter which was continuing till reports last came in. Three CRPF jawans, including an officer, were injured. An Al-Mansurian spokesman claimed responsibility for the fidayeen attack. In other incidents, two ultras were killed by security forces, even as six militants, looking for information on forces movements beat up seven women who refused to provide them any input in Kotranka. The ultras later burnt hutments in the area. Also today, security forces defused 10 kg of IED on a Doda road.
