Terrorists Kill Former Associate In Srinagar

Srinagar: Terrorists gunned down a former associate near his house on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday night, police said. The deceased, identified as Latief Sheikh alias Kuka, was shot by unidentified terrorists from point blank range at Methan near Channapora around 9 pm, sources said. Sheikh, a former terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen who was presently running a video shop in the locality, was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead, they said. Meanwhile, security forces cordoned off Muradpora village of Shopian in Pulwama district on Wednesday morning to carry out house-to-house searches. Some firing shots were heard soon after the troops of Rashtriya Rifles moved inside the village, the sources said, adding a civilian, hit by a bullet, was shifted to hospital. They said the operation was still continuing and further details are awaited.
