Political Parties celebrate I-Day with patriotic fervour

Jammu: Various political parties celebrated Independence day with enthusiasm and national fervour and hoisted national flag in functions held at different places in the state today. Pradesh Congress Committee activists, organised a grand function at the Party headquarters Shahidi Chowk here today to celebrate Independence day. Former MLA and district president of the Party for Jammu Urban, Om Chopra unfurled national flag at historic Shahidi Chowk in Jammu. He also address the Congress activists and highlighted the role of great Congress leaders in freedom struggle. He also recalled the sacrifices of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Abdul Kalam Azad and others. Several other party leaders were also present on the occasion. They included— Pardhuman Singh, Farida Mir, Hari Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Vinod Sharma, Kanta Bhan, Krishan Lal Gupta and others. Sweets were also distributed on this occasion. Similar functions were organised by District Committees of Doda and Rajouri. At Bhaderwah, Naresh Gupta advocate, hoisted national flag at Seri Bazar. Several party workers participated in the function. At Rajouri, vice chairman of State Pahari Board and president District Congress Rajouri unfurled national flag. PCC secretary Abdul Rashid, Lalit Mahajan, Lovely Gupta, Vijay Mohan, Vinod Sawhney were also present. At Sunderbani, senior Congress leader (block president) Tulsi Dass hoisted national flag. District Youth Congress president for Rajouri, Chander Mohan was also present on the occasion. Block Congress Committee Vijaypur in connection with I- Day organised a function at Vijaypur. Former MLA Bhagat Gauri Shanker hoisted national flag on the occasion. They recalled the national heroes and their great sacrifices for the country. Youth Congress leaders in a function held at Gujjar Nagar Jammu celebrated I-Day. PCC spokesman and youth leader—Ravinder Sharma hoisted national flag. Youth leader Shafkat Khokhar organised the function. Congress Seva Dal Jammu Urban chief Sardari Lal Mehra , hoisted national flag at Residency Road here today in connection with I-Day celebrations. A large number of people participated in the function. National Conference in an impressive function held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan celebrated 58th Independence day here today. Provincial president Ajay Sadhotra hoisted the national flag in presence a large number of party leaders. Mr Sadhotra congratulated the party workers and the people of the state on this auspicious occasion and said that party stands committed to high ideals of secularism, socialism and democracy. He said national conference has played historic role in the freedom struggle and its leaders like late Sheikh Mohd Abdullah has lead India in so many fields. Others leaders like Rattan Lal Gupta, Bashir Ahmed Jugal Mahajan, Zubeda Slaria, S M Gill, Bimla Luthra, B A Naz, Bhagat Ganga Dutt, Iqbal Kour, Mohd Aslam Goni and Tarankit Singh Tony were also present. District National Conference committee organised a function at Udhampur in connection with I-Day. Former Dy Chairman of Legislative Council C L Khajuria unfurled the national flag. Several party leaders and activists were also present on the occasion. Later, in a meeting NC leaders paid tributes to late Congress leader Balak Ram and recalled his services. Rajesh, Gupta, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Vijay Khajuria, Sunil Verma, Madhu Verma Jagdish Vaid were also present. Minority cell of NC hoisted tri-colour at various camps like Muthi, Mishriwalla, Nagrota in Jammu in connection with I-day celebrations today. Bhushan Lal Bhat, Ex-MLC was chief guest and he hoisted national flag there. Bharatiya Janata Party’s state unit organised I-Day function at the party headquarters, Kachi Chawani here today. Pradesh BJP president, Dr Nirmal Singh hoisted tricolour here. He also attended functions at City Chowk, Railway Station and Gadigarh and unfurled national flag. In Kachi Chawani function, the party workers sung the national anthem and recalled the supreme sacrifices of the national heroes for their freedom struggle. Party leaders—Ashok Khajuria, Ajay Jamwal, Jugal Kishore (MLA), Jyoti Parkash, Anil Parihar, Yudhvir Sethi, Kashmira Singh, N D Rajwal, Bansi Lal Bharti and others were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Ashok Khajuria hoisted national flag at Prem Nagar and Janipur in Jammu today in connection with the I-Day. He also addressed the gathering at these places and recalled the supreme sacrifices of the great heroes of the country. BJP Mandal president, Jammu west Kuldeep Magotra hoisted tri-colour at Patoli Chowk today in presence of party activists and local residents. The sacrifices of national heroes in the freedom struggle were also recalled on this occasion. National Panthers Party in a function held here today, hoisted national flag at party office, Gandhinagar. Senior vice-president Bhupinder Singh hoisted national flag. General secretary Bansi Lal, H C Katoch, S S Jamwal advocate was also present. State president M A Khan unfurled national flag at party headquarters Rajinder Bazar this morning. Janata Dal Secular state president, Dhan Raj Bargotra in a function held at party headquarters hoisted national flag on the occasion of Independence Day. While congratulating the party workers and people in general he recalled the sacrifices of national heroes. He said removal of poverty and unemployment would really serve the purpose of real independence and India has a lot to do yet in this regard. Rashtriya Janata Dal state unit also organised a function in connection with I- Day here today. Ghulam Nabi Forah hoisted tri-colour at the party office, Residency Road, Jammu. Several party leaders were also present on the occasion. The sweets were distributed among the workers and others. Lok Jan Shakti’s youth wing celebrated I-Day in a function held at Sainik Colony. National Flag was hoisted by state president of the Party Sanjeev Manmotra. The speakers recalled the supreme sacrifices of the national heroes for the freedom struggle. nsui Organised a function at Shakti Nagar today to celebrate the Independence Day. Rajiv Saraf NSUI state chief hoisted the National Flag.
