Srinagar: Within six days of firebrand leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani launching his own party, a new separatist political outfit was launched here today. Head of religious Tehreek-e-Nifaaz-e-Shariat (movement for implementation of Islamic law) Nissar Hussain Rather announced the launch of Tehreek-e-Waahdat-e-Islami (Islami Movement for Unity) at a press conference here. He said his earlier organisation, which focussed on imparting religious education in Kashmir had been merged with the new party. Justfying the need for launching a new outfit, Rather said it was unfortunate that people of Kashmir have never had honest and sincere leadership and the leaders had misled the masses at crucial junctures of history. He lambasted both factions of Hurriyat Conference led by Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq saying separate ideologies were preached from same platform and the constituents of the amalgam had themselves suffered several splits. Rather said his party would make efforts for unification of Hurriyat Conference and till then would remain equidistant from both factions. This is second separatist political party to be launched in a week. On Saturday, Geelani launched the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir.
