Jammu: Jammu Mukti Morcha (JMM) today deplored the move of Madan Lal Sharma and Ch Lal Singh of not resigning from their ministerial posts even after being elected as Members of the Parliament and termed their decision as an insult of democratic norms and ethics. Talking to media-persons, president of Jammu Mukti Morcha Prof Verinder Gupta said 'for what they contested Parliamentary elections if they had to remain stuck to their ministerial berths in the State', adding 'their decision is nothing less than an insult of democratic norms and ethics'. He asked the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Congress high command to compel these ministers to region immediately failing which it would set a shameful trend. 'Now Madan Lal and Ch Lal Singh are Member Parliaments and they should rise above petty interests and work for the interests of the people of Jammu region', he said. Apprehending that Jammu region’s cause may suffer in the changing political scenario where the political groups were consistently following a pro-Kashmir policy at the cost of Jammu region, Prof Gupta stressed on the need to float a regional political outfit to fight for the cause of the Jammu people and asked the leaders of political parties to come together so that struggle for achieving justice for Jammu region be taken to logical ends. He also urged Madan Lal Sharma and Ch Lal Singh to rise above the party lines and resist any solution of the Kashmir issue that is against the interests of Jammu region and being thrust upon them to appease Kashmiri leaders. Welcoming the concern of United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre on the demand of separate state for Telangana and constituting of re-organisation commission for the State, the Morcha demanded that the scope of the commission be broadened to look into the similar demands of separate states in other parts of the country particularly from Jammu region. He also expressed Morcha’s anguish and resentment over the denial of basic amenities—drinking water, electricity and sanitation—to the people of Jammu region and demanded that these issues be immediately taken up to provide succor to the people of Jammu from these problems.
