'US and Europe are eager to resolve Kashmir issue'

BRUSSELS: The president of the Kashmir Advisory Council for the Kashmir Centre in Europe said on Thursday that the United States and Europe were interested in resolving the Kashmir dispute because of nuclear and extremism-related threats in the region.Council President Ali Raza Syed made a speech on Thursday to an international conference on the Kashmir issue in Brussels, organised by the Kashmir Centre on its founding day. 'This is a very crucial moment and differences among Kashmiri leaders at this stage can damage the freedom struggle in the Indian Held Kashmir,' said Mr Syed, who is also the chairman of the Pak-Euro Friendship Forum.He said besides the nuclear threat, particularly after the events of 9-11, the US and Europe were keenly paying attention to remove extremism from the region.
