Srinagar: The crisis within the Moulvi Abbas Ansari-led Hurriyat has deepened. Sajad Lone of the People's Conference has written to the Hurriyat chairman seeking an explanation from amalgam member Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for participating in the funeral of the Al-Umar Mujahideen commander Rafiq Lidri. The People's Conference, a constituent of the Hurriyat, had taken exception to Awami Action Committee chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq's attending the funeral of Lidri. He has not only called the Mirwaiz a 'hypocrite' but also accused him of getting the late Abdul Gani Lone from the US to participate in a rally back home, where the senior Hurriyat leader was killed on May 21, 2002. Sources in the Hurriyat disclosed that Sajad Lone has made it clear to Moulvi Abbas Ansari that nothing short of a public apology would hold the People's Conference back from quitting the conglomerate. Sajad had described Lidri, as the killer of his father and PC founder Abdul Gani Lone. He wondered how Mirwaiz attended his funeral and called him a martyr at Iddgah last week. Lidri was killed by the Srinagar district police in an encounter on February 5.
