HM militant shot dead by HUJI men in Doda Six ultras, two civilians killed

Jammu: Six militants including three foreign mercenaries and two civilians were killed in the separate militancy related incidents across the region overnight. One of the militants, Bashir Ansari, who was a top ranking militant of the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit, was gunned down by the Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami (HUJI) activists. Official sources said the Army and police personnel gunned down two Pakistan militants in an encounter at village Kalla along Chenab Gali in Chasana area of Mahore tehsil under the jurisdiction of Reasi police district this morning. A hideout, where both the militants had taken shelter, was destroyed in the two and a half hour long operation, the sources said. Security forces didn’t suffer any casualties. Slain militants have been identified as Ozilan and Sohail (code names), both Pakistanis and activists of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) outfit. Two AK rifles, eight magazines, 9 rounds, four hand grenades, one wireless set, 18 detonators, Rs 4650 in Indian currency and seven Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered from the slain militants. Meanwhile, in another incident of inter-gang rivalry, the militants of HUJI outfit today shot dead a top Hizbul Mujahideen militant, Bashir Ahmed Gujjar alias Ansari at Keshwan in Doda district. Body of Ansari a 'tehsil commander' of HM was recovered by the security forces from a small forest area near Keshwan this afternoon. However, the militants of HUJI outfit, who were instrumental in killing the Hizbul ultra, managed to escape. No recoveries were made from the spot. Another encounter took place between a group of three militants and a joint team of Army and police at village Targain in Budhal area of Rajouri district late last night. All three were killed in the encounter, the sources said, adding one of them was a foreign mercenary. They have been identified as Sharif alias Nadeem, an 'area commander' of Hizbul Mujahideen and Nasrool, both hailing from Darhal and Imran of Pakistan. Three AK rifles, one pistol and one wireless set were recovered from them. DIG Rajouri-Poonch range S M Sahai and SSP Rajouri A Q Mujtaba visited the encounter site. A civilian Talib Hussain, 3, son of Khadim Hussain, a resident of village Hari Safeda, Surankote in Poonch district was kidnapped by two militants from his house late last night. He was gunned down in the captivity. Body of Talib Hussain was recovered by the police this morning. Another civilian Jamal son of Sadiq Malik, a resident of Sheikhpora Tanta in Doda district was killed in exchange of firing between the security forces and the militants today. According to sources, Jamal was arrested by the security forces after one bayonet and two diaries were recovered from his house. He was being taken to another hideout for the recoveries when he was killed in the cross-firing. Security forces today destroyed three small hideouts of the militants— two at Marhot and one at Daranga Wali in Surankote tehsil in Poonch. Recoveries made from the hideout included packets of RDX, three UBGL grenades, 10 kg rice, five kg flour, three kg sugar, two kg tea, five kg daal, 20 litres refined oil and three hand grenades.
