Terror Unleashed In Doda District

Doda: The residents of several villages in Doda district have complained that Rashtria Rifles personnel have let loose a reign of terror and made life of people miserable. Hundreds of civilians including women folk were beaten ruthlessly by 10 RR personnel without any provocation or justification at villages Poti, Soli, Kastigarh and Larri in Doda district. Residents of Larri said, the RR personnel swooped on three villages and conducted massive seige and search operations. During the operation, all the men folk including elderly persons were asked to assemble at a single place and later were paraded before informer borne gypsies. However, the 'cats' could not identify any suspects', the residents said adding that afterwards troops arrested Bhar Din (70), Mohammad Asadullah (75), Ghulam Mohammad Zargar (50), Milk Singh (42), Parvez Hussain (48), Rafiq Ahmad, Jalal-ud-Din (60), Mohammad Sakhi (43), Nazir Ahmad (47) and took them to a nearby camp where they were beaten ruthlessly. Groups of Kastigarh people later visited Doda and staged protest demonstration against the atrocities being inflicted by10 RR personnel on the hapless villagers. They also staged a sit-in and demanded action against the guilty military personnel. They have threatened that in case administration takes no action against them, the villagers would be forced to migrate to other places.
