Policemen Guarding Pandits Disarmed

Srinagar: Uniformed armed men snatched arms and ammunition from policemen guarding the colony of a minority community in Chadoora area of Budgam district. Quoting sources, CNS said a group of 19 armed in police uniforms entered the Sogam village in Chadoora, Budgam and enquired from the residents the location of the police picket guarding the Pandit families. The armed men upon reaching the picket told four policemen that they needed reinforcements for raiding a militant hideout. As soon the policemen came out of the picket, the armed men overpowered them and snatched 4 SLR rifles, 6 magazines and 180 rounds of SLR ammunition from them. The armed men freed the policemen after snatching weapons from them. Sources said of the six policemen deployed at the picket only four were present on the duty. They are, head constable Muneer Ahmad, and constables Mushtaq Ahmad, Arjun Singh and Muhammad Amin.
