Newly-weds get call of the Valley

Jammu: For 12,000 couples who made it to the wedding halls through Thursday's capital chaos and tied the knot, there's more good news — Jammu and Kashmir has announced a special honeymoon package for them.'I greet all those who have got married and I extend them an open invitation to all of them to visit the Valley. We offer them cheap and best honeymoon package,' Tourism Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir told ht.According to the managing director of the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation, Abdul Aziz Wani, for a cool Rs 10,000, honeymooners get a six days, five nights package in Kashmir.The package includes transportation from Jammu or Srinagar houseboat accommodation in Srinagar and stay at Gulmarg and Pahalgam — the most famous resorts in Kashmir. Wani said the couples can convey their travel plans to state tourism officials and “we are here to take care of them”.Newly-weds can see snow at Gulmarg and Pahalgam from inside their warm huts and watch the shimmering waters of Dal Lake in Srinagar from houseboats.Wani said that the couples would also be taken on guided shopping tours to various places, including Srinagar and Jammu, during their visit.The Jammu and Kashmir government decided to announce the made-for-honeymooners package after the Delhi weddings hogged headlines on TV and in the print media.Houseboat honeymoonThe J&K Govt’s offer: Rs 10,000 for six days, five nights per coupleThe frills: Houseboat in Srinagar.
