5 Militants Killed, BSNL Complex Attacked In J&K

Srinagar: Security forces killed five militants across the Kashmir valley while militants attacked the residential quarters of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in Anantnag district in violence since Wednesday, the police said. Militants hurled a hand grenade at the BSNL residential quarters in Anantnag district. Not much damage was, however, reported. While two militants were killed in an encounter at Manzgam in Damhal Hanjipora, Anantnag, a third one was shot dead in Machinar, Ganderbal district. Two more were gunned down at Dursoo Jagir in Baramulla district. Ammunition including 3 AK rifles, 5 magazines, 120 rounds and 1 wireless were recovered from the slain militants. Four security personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire. In Budgam, the Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday recovered two dead bodies. One was identified as Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a PHE employee of Harda Abura. Police is investigating into these deaths. A group of militants on Wednesday night also forced their entry into the house of one Noor Mohammad Khan in Hung Kunzer, Baramulla, and later shot him dead in a nearby field.
