New Delhi: The Government on Thursday termed as 'politically and diplomatically inappropriate', the involvement of the US State Department in a conference on Kashmir. This was stated by Minister of State for External Affairs Digvijay Singh in Rajya Sabha while replying to a written question from Congress mp Saif-ud-din Soz and Prem Chand Gupta. Although the organisation of conferences and seminars was an internal matter of the us Department of the State, but the Government 'believes that the involvement of the us department of State in organising this conference was politically and diplomatically inappropriate,' he said. Mr Singh was referring to the us state Department's sponsored 'conference of Kashmir update' recently in Washington in which personalities from India, Pakistan and the us were invited. The Indian invitees, including pdp leader (Mehbooba Mufti), declined the invitation, he said. He said the us conveyed that the conference did not constitute or reflect any change in its position on J&K.
