J-K Minister Files Complaint Against Abusive Army Officials

Srinagar: A junior minister in J-K government today lodged a complaint against Army for using abusive language during a search operation at Choodara in central Kashmir with police and sought action against the erring troops. Minister of State for Power, Javeed Mustafa Mir from Chadoora, was on a routine visit to his constituency today and tried to intervene when the Rashtriya Rifles men were abusing and beating up villagers during a search operation. Sources revealed that the armymen did not stop even after the intervention of the minister. The minister avoided to come on phone despite repeated attempts to reach him. Sources in the Mufti government said that the senior leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party asked the minister to downplay the incident especially as he had made a formal complaint with the police.
