10 Lashkar ultras gunned down in Poonch

JAMMU: Security forces today gunned down 10 Lashkare Taiyaba militants, all from Pakistan, in an encounter in Poonch district, J&K. The Army and police launched the operation following a tip off that a large group of Lashkar militants from Pakistan and Afghanistan had assembled in Hardi mountains of Surankote belt. Senior superintendent of police Mr Mukesh Singh said six AK rifles, one pika gun, two pistols, 14 magazines, large number of ammunition and some documents were found in the area. Cops held: Five more policemen, including two officers, have been taken into custody for their alleged nexus with militants involved in the killing of a former minister and attacks on security forces in the state. Two policemen had earlier been arrested in the case. 2 killed in shelling: Two Armymen were killed and a civilian injured last night in Pakistani shelling along the Lone of Control in Keran and Noushera sub-sector. - PTI
