The Daily Excelsior

ON BOARD IAF AIRCRAFT: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani did not rule out the possibility of India's peace offer to Pakistan being a reason behind the sudden spurt of violence in Jammu and Kashmir. 'This could be a factor in their motivation,' Mr Advani said when asked if the militants wanted to thwart the latest peace process between India and Pakistan even before it could actually take off. Mr Advani was flying back to Delhi after a one-day visit to Kanpur where he presided over the annual convocation of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University and had a closed door meeting with Uttar Pradesh BJP leaders and party ministers in the Mayawati Government. Regarding occurence of two 'Fidayeen' attacks in the Valley since yesterday, the Deputy Prime Minister, however, said there was nothing new about such incidents. 'They have been happening earlier also.' (UNI)
