OIC reiterates complete support to Kashmiris' right of self-determination: Izzat Kamel

ISLAMABAD: A four member OIC Fact Finding Mission for Jammu and Kashmir headed by Izzat Kamel Mufti, Assistant Secretary General called on Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri here Wednesday. They reiterated OIC's complete support to the Kashmiri people's right to self- determination. Apprising the Foreign Minister about the delegation's visit to Azad Kashmir, Izzat Kamel Mufti said that the visit was useful in providing the members and eyewitness account of the situation on the ground particularly the magnitude of death and destruction caused by the Indian shelling of civilian population. He said that the OIC firmly stands behind Pakistan in its principled stand on Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated that organization's complete and consistent support to the Kashmiri people's right of self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions. The foreign minister, while appreciating the expression of solidarity and support extended to the Kashmir's struggle, urged the OIC to take concrete measures for peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people. He further stated that his government places a high priority on reducing tensions and normalizing relations with India as this was the only way forward in the interest of the people of South Asia.
