OIC Mission for Kashmir urges resolution of Kashmir dispute under UNSC resolution

ISLAMABAD: The members of the OIC Fact Finding Mission for Jammu and Kashmir, who arrived in Islamabad on Sunday, called on the Acting Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, here Monday. The OIC Fact Finding Mission is visiting Azad Kashmir as mandated by various sessions of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers as well as the Islamic Summit Conference to visit Jammu and Kashmir. The leader of the OIC Fact Finding Mission Izzat Kamel Mufti, Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, while appraising the Acting Foreign Secretary about the purpose of the visit said that a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant Security Council Resolutions at the wishes of the Kashmiri people was a matter of top priority for the OIC. He described the ongoing movement for the right of self-determination in Kashmir as a legitimate freedom struggle. Izzat Kamel Mufti also appreciated the efforts being made by Pakistan for the peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The Acting Foreign Secretary expressed his gratitude to the leader and members of the OIC Fact Finding Mission for undertaking the visit in response to OIC resolutions. He thanked the OIC for its consistent and valuable support to the Kashmiri people in their legitimate struggle for the right of self- determination and urged it to continue its efforts for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute and to ameliorate the plight of the Kashmiris.
