PDP Leader Among Seven Killed In J&K

Jammu: One People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and five terrorists were among seven persons killed in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir where ultras triggered a blast and security forces foiled an infiltration bid since Tuesday night, a police spokesman said here on Wednesday. Unidentified terrorists shot dead PDP block president Abdul Razak Rather inside his house at Khandaypora village in Anantnag district in the wee hours, he said. Army foiled an infiltration bid by a group of heavily armed Lashker-e-Taiba terrorists near the Line of Control at Noorkote-Chingus in Rajouri district killing two terrorists in a gunfight and forcing the rest to flee back to Pakistan. An Army personnel and a civilian were also injured in the exchange of fire and two kgs RDX, three IEDS, two AK rifles, nine magazines, 13 grenades and some documents were recovered from the spot, the spokesman said. Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed and two security personnel injured in an encounter at Chacknarwal Nallah in Banihal area of Doda district, the spokesman said, adding two AK rifles and under-barrel grenade launchers were recovered from the spot. In another exchange of fire, a self-styled deputy district commander of Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen, Ali Mohammad Malik alias Sajad, was shot dead by security forces in Lolab area of Kupwara district. Malik had been active in the area for the last 13 years and was wanted in a number of cases, the spokesman said. Terrorists shot dead one Riyaz Ahmad Magray at Sopore bus stand in Baramulla district this afternoon, he said.
