Security Officer Killed In J&K Landmine Blast

Srinagar: A security officer was killed on the spot and a jawan injured in a mine blast, suspected to have been caused by militants, in Anantang district of south Kashmir on Monday, official sources said here. The blast took place at 0800 hours when their vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device planted by militants at Dooni Puwa, 45 km from here, sources said. Sub Inspector of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Shri Chand was killed instantaneously while the jawan was injured, they said. Although no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the blast, police suspected the hand of Hizbul Mujahideen.
