No peace without solution of Kashmir issue: Rao

ISLAMABAD: Peace in South Asian region is not possible without a just and fair resolution of the Kashmir problem.Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal said this while talking to Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan, who called on him in his office in Rawalpindi on Saturday.Rao Sikandar said Pakistan would continue to extend all moral, diplomatic and political support to the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir in their just struggle for right to self-determination. He said India never showed any sincerity and seriousness in seeking peace and solving the protracted problem of Kashmir in spite of Pakistan's endeavours to initiate meaningful dialogue.The minister also deplored violations of human rights in the held Kashmir and called upon the international community to come forward and help innocent Kashmiri people.Earlier, the AJK prime minister briefed the defence minister about situation at the Line of Control and repeated violations by the Indian army.The matters relating to civil aviation and starting of PIA flights to Mirpur and Muzaffarabad were also discussed. Secretary Defence Lt Gen (retd) Hamid Nawaz Khan also attended the meeting.
