Moral, diplomatic, political support to cause of Kashmir continues: Gen Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: President General Pervez Musharraf Tuesday assured the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir that Pakistan will continue supporting their legitimate freedom struggle at moral, diplomatic and political level. In his message on 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' falling on today (Wednesday), President Musharraf said, 'We would like to assure our brothers and sisters in Kashmir at this critical juncture in their history, they have the full moral, diplomatic and political support of Pakistan. The people of Pakistan shall stand by their Kashmiri brethren at all times and under all circumstances. Insha Allah that day is not far when they will attain their long-cherished goal.' February 5, declared gazzetted holiday in Pakistan since 1995 to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. 'The people of Pakistan are today observing 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' reaffirm their steadfast and unflinching support for the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people in the realization of their inalienable right of self-determination as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions,' he said. President Musharraf once again reiterated willingness of settling the core issue of Kashmir, a root cause of tension between the two South Asia Nuclear arms states, amicabely. 'We reaffirm that Pakistan is firmly committed to seeking a peaceful and just settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people. Pakistan has taken several steps for the commencement of Pakistan-India dialogue for resolving the Kashmir issue. We call upon India to stop its repression in Kashmir and respond positive to our peace initiatives,' he said. Fort the last fifty-four years, India has sought to maintain its illegal hold in Jammu and Kashmir in defiance of the wishes of the Kashmiri people, of UN resolutions and of international law. India has also tried unsuccessfully to.suppress the Kashmiri people's just freedom struggle through the brutal use of military force, he said. He was of the view that India has failed miserably on another front also by holdig sham elections in the occupied state in order to project a semblly of legitimacy to its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. However Kashmirs have on each occasion totally rejected the Indian electoral charade remained steadfast in their legitimate struggle. On the occasion of 'Kashmir Solidarity Day, President Musharraf has again appealed to the.conscience of the world to rise in defence of the human rights of the Kashmiri people, 'which are being continuously violated by Indian occupation forces and international community must not let India renege from its legal and human.obligations to let the Kashmiri people decide their future. Neither it allow India to continue with its policy of state terrorism in order to prolong its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.'
