NC Activist Killed In Jammu And Kashmir

Srinagar: A National Conference activist and his security guard were killed, while another party activist and a Congress leader escaped bids on their lives in Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces seized 3.5 kgs of RDX and other explosive material during searches since Monday evening, sources said here on Tuesday. He said Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, a National Conference activist, and his personal security guard, Pradeep Kumar Raina, were killed when militants attacked them at Gagra-Nar in Chatroo area of Doda district on Monday evening. Sheikh was travelling in his car from Chatroo to Kishtwar when they were attacked by militants, who also took away the service weapon of Raina. He said militants attacked the house of Congress leader, Mohammad Shafi Banday with a rocket in Shopian area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Monday evening. Windows of the house were smashed but no loss of life was reported.
