Cop killed, 6 injured in Hizb attack

Srinagar: A policeman was killed on the spot and six other cops, including an officer, were injured on Saturday when their vehicle ran over a landmine planted by terrorists in Anantanag district of south Kashmir, official sources said. The landmine blasted when a police vehicle passed the road, killing head constable Ghulam Ahmad Mir on the spot and injuring six others including assistant sub-inspector, Mohammad Ashraf, the sources said. The injured were shifted to a hospital, where condition of two of them was stated to be critical. They were referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment, the sources said.A spokesman of pro-Pakistan Hizbul Mujahideen telephoned news organisations in Srinagar to own responsibility for the blast.
