Srinagar: Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen, a pro-Pakistani militant outfit, has asked Muslim women in the state to uphold the Islamic dress code and cover their head. Early December, another militant group, Lashkar-e-Jabbar, had warned women in the Rajouri district of Jammu of dire consequences if they didn't wear burqa. According to a local news agency CNS, JuM spokesman Malik Tahir Nawaz said Muslims must follow the Islamic way of life, whether or not it suited the world. Similar instructions were given to Muslim women here in 2001. However, the campaign could not succeed due to the collapse of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen has denied reports of differences within the outfit. A HuM spokesperson said they were united on the issue of fighting India.
