New Delhi: Coming out strongly against the killings of three girls for not abiding by the ''burqa'' diktat in Jammu and Kashmir, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) today made it clear that Islam cannot be used to justify terrorism and the killing of innocents. ''It is un- Islamic and highly condemnable'' the AIMPLB convenor, Syed Shahabuddin, said while addressing a day-long national symposium: ''Babri Masjid Question - Balance sheet and future direction'' here. He said Islam ''does not permit anyone to take innocent lives'' be they Hindu or Muslim. He said it advocates peace, tolerance and humanity. In fact, ''the forces hostile to the faith were committing the acts to malign Islam,'' he said. He also condemned the Vishwa Hindu Parishad''s attempts to perform an ''yajna'' at the Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque adjacent to the Qutab Minar and urged the Delhi Government not to allow the ''Hindutva outfits'' use such acts to get mileage for next year''s Assembly polls.
