Probe into misappropriation of relief funds demanded

MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan People''s Party Azad Jammu and Kashmir has demanded probe into misappropriation in relief funds for the victims of Indian firing and shelling across the Line of Control. Deputy Chief Organizer of the PPP AJK Shaukat Javed while talking to journalists here on Wednesday said that Muslim Conference leadership was involved in corrupt practices. He added that massive irregularities were reported into disbursement of relief fund among the victims of Indian firing and shelling across the LoC. He added that the MC leaders have also embezzled millions of rupees allocated for development projects and collecting bribe and commissions from contractors. He informed that the MC leaders obliged only party workers while distributing relief fund among the inhabitants of border areas. He called upon the federal government as well as Accountability Bureau to initiate probe into embezzlement of funds and those found guilty should be awarded severe punishment. Shaukat Javed said the Muslim Conference government has failed to deliver good for the poor people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He vowed that the PPP will not allow any body to usurp the rights of poor masses.
