11 terrorists killed in J&K, infiltration foiled

Srinagar: An infiltration bid was foiled in the Kashmir Valley where eleven terrorists, six of them from Pakistan, were killed and a couple managed to escape from the cluthes of terrorists in separate incidents since Saturday night, police said on Sunday. Three Pakistani terrorists were killed and two security personnel injured in an exchange of fire as troops foiled an infiltration bid in Noushera area of Machil sector, they said. A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site. In Udhampur district of Jammu region, security forces gunned down two Al-badr terrorists in an encounter at Shajroo in Mahore tehsil, the sources said, adding that both of them belonged to Pakistan. Three Lashker-e- Toiba terrorists were killed in an eight-hour long encounter with Rashtriya Rifles personnel at Zawoora village in Pulwama district. The encounter took place when the security personnel on a tip off, cordoned off the house in which the terrorists were hiding. The house was gutted in the firing. Another LeT terrorist identified as Abu Jehad, a resident of Gujranwalla in Pakistan, was killed in a gunfight with security personnel at Sangalnar-Kandi in Kupwara, police said. Recoveries from the site included two AK rifles with five magazines and 118 rounds, four hand grenades, some explosives and a few diaries. The operation was still in progress, they said.
