Jammu: With Mufti Mohammed Sayeed stating that he would not only be revoking Pota in the state but would also be releasing all the persons arrested under the Act, the Hurriyat Conference is also hopeful of the release of its two important leaders, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Yasin Malik, who are in jail since March this year. “Yes, we are quite happy and hopeful that both Malik sahib and Geelani sahib would soon be released as they were falsely arrested under Pota,” Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Farooq, former Hurriyat chairman, said. He told The Statesman that he hoped the new government would be able to provide the healing touch about which it has been talking. “We hope that good governance would solve, to some extent, their problems,”said Mirwaiz and it could also pave way for initiating a dialogue with Pakistan for the permanent resolution of Kashmir issue.
