New Delhi: Hizbul Mujahedeen chief Syed Salahuddin announced rewards of Rs 40 lakh ''to bump off'' Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani said on Monday. He told reporters in New Delhi that Salahuddin had also offered Rs 10 lakhs for killing any candidate or campaigner in the Assembly elections in the state. ''Terrorism is bad in itself, but this is more than terrorism,'' Advani said. ''In a situation of this kind, polling itself becomes the touchstone'' for a functioning democracy, he said. ''Conducting successful polling is in itself a befitting reply. I think the international community would regard this as successful elections'', he said in reply to questions.
