SRINAGAR: With the killing of one more activist in Budgam district last night, the number of ruling National Conference members killed in the last 13 years has gone up to 322. The dead include a Minister, the former Speaker and many other functionaries. The Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen today claimed that in the past six weeks it had killed 10 NC workers and said it would continue to do so. Unknown militants also shot down a Halqa president in Beerwah area of Budgam on Friday night. Condemning the killing of his party men, the NC provincial president, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen, said, ''this is the only party which is a force to reckon with and which has turned the tables by restoring democratic institutions in the State. We will continue to be in the forefront in restoring peace in Kashmir''. The party president, Omar Abdullah, recently said that the NC was the only party, which had stood up to the wrath of the militants to keep the tricolour flying. ''Show me how many of your workers have died in the last 13 years in Kashmir and how many times you have faced such a situation?'' he asked.
