New Delhi: India further upped the ante in its diplomatic battle with Pakistan on Thursday, restating that infiltration of militants into Kashmir was rising again and accusing Islamabad of detracting from its pledge to stop incursions. ''As you recall there were certain assurances given by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf that there would be a permanent end to infiltration,'' said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Nirupama Rao. ''For some time after that there was a lull, but over the past few days, as our minister said, we have not only seen a detraction from that pledge but we have also seen a certain rise in levels of infiltration. This is a cause of concern for us.'' Rao was replying to a question seeking clarification on a claim by new Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha Wednesday that Musharraf was reneging on his promise to stop infiltration.
