Srinagar: Radical militant outfit Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen on friday threatened the people of Jammu and Kashmir with ''dire consequences'' if they participate in the next Assembly elections. ''Those who are thinking of participating in the so-called election will be dealt with exemplary punishment,'' Jamiat spokesman Jameel Ahmed said in a statement to a local news agency. Asking people to stay away from the poll process, the spokesman, quoting the outfit deputy chief Tahirul Islam, said ''participation of Kashmiri people in the election could give a severe blow to the movement.''
