Seven ultras killed in J-K, two villagers beheaded

Jammu/Srinagar: Militants beheaded two village defence committee (VDC) members in Rajouri district in Jammu, while seven militants were killed in separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir since Tuesday night. The two VDC members, Dileep Kumar and Charan Das, who had been abducted earlier, had been severely tortured prior to beheading, official sources said. Police recovered the bodies and handed them over to family members on Wednesday after postmortem. Meanwhile, security forces killed two foreign mercenaries, identified as Abu Farkhan and Abu Abrar, an area commander of the Lashker-e-Tayyaba in Sildhar area of Udhampur on Wednesday. In another encounter, two militants were killed in Doni village of Rajouri district. One militant was gunned down by troops in Gandoh area of Doda district, where another militant surrendered before troops on Tuesday. In Kashmir valley, two militants were killed in an encounter with BSF jawans in Pulwama district on Wednesday morning. Two AK assault rifles, seven magazines, 104 rounds and a pistol were recovered from them. Militants shot dead one person at Dangiwacha village in Baramulla district of north Kashmir on Tuesday night. The motive behind the killing was not known. A counter-insurgent associated with Ikhwan was injured in an encounter between militants and security forces in Anantnag district on Tuesday night. The ultras managed to escape.
