Rajouri: Four army personnel including a Major were killed and four others were injured in two operations while security forces eliminated six foreign mercenaries across Poonch and Rajouri districts today. Terrorists ambushed an army patrol party led by a Major at village Milan in Surankote tehsil of Poonch district tonight. They resorted to heavy firing on the army personnel and lobbed grenades. Troops retaliated. Official sources said an Army Major and a Head Constable, whose identity couldnít be gathered immediately, were killed in the ambush while four others were injured. The terrorists managed to escape taking cover of darkness, they added. Enforcement of army and police was rushed to the spot, who started a search operation for the terrorists, numbering about a dozen. Till tonight, the terrorists hadnít been arrested. Injured army jawans have been hospitalised. Meanwhile, in a joint operation, security forces today achieved a big success by eliminating six foreign terrorists, who had infiltrated across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri sector. On the other hand, terrorists mowed down a reformed militant and his old grand mother at their house in Sagarian Azmatabad under the jurisdiction of Thanamandi Police Station of Rajouri district. According to defence sources, on a specific information, the forces today launched a combing operation in Batta area of Raipura Batra areas of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district. At about 1030 hours today, when forces reached in middle of the forest, the terrorists hiding there resorted to heavy firing on the security personnel. Security persons retaliated effectively and in the ensuing gun-battle, two terrorists were gunned down by the forces. Remaining four terrorists of the group, managed to escape from the encounter site. Forces chased the running terrorists and engaged them near Rani Badather area under the jurisdiction of Chingus Police Station. About two hours long gun- battle, security personnel succeeded in eliminating remaining four terrorists. Two jawans namely L.Nk Mohammed Altaf and L Nk Mohammed Abdullah laid down their lives while fighting with the terrorists. A large number of arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site. One Pika Gun, 400 rounds of Pika ammunition, four AK 47 riffles, 14 grenades, 13 magazines of AK 47 rifles, one wireless set, 4 antenna, 4 pouches, 360 rounds of AK 47 riffles, 2 bags of RDX, 2 bags, one baynet, one walkman and two cassettes. Though identity of the slain terrorists have not yet identified but it is believed that they were Pakistani who had managed to infiltrate this side. Defence sources said that despite assurances of the Pakistani President General Parveez Musharraf, the infiltration of the trained terrorists have been going unabated in this side. Pointing towards the recent killings of terrorists on Line of Control, defence sources said that this was the third major encounter on the LoC during the last two months. Meanwhile a reformed militant and his old grand mother were mowed down by a group of terrorists at their house in Sagarian Azmatabad under the jurisdiction of Thanamandi police station, last night. Identity of the deceased was established as Mohd Riaz son of Mohd Akhtar and his grand mother Noori Bi, widow of Dost Mohd. Only a couple of days ago, younger brother of the slain militant, Shabir, had also been killed by Pakistan backed terrorists. Reports reaching here said that five armed terrorists barged into the house of Mohd Riaz, who had returned from Mumbai only a day before yesterday, and dragged him out. Sensing fate of her grandson, elderly Noori Bi tried to shield the latter and pleaded before the terrorists to leave their victim. The armed terrorists, however, did not listen to her pleas and pumped bullets on Riaz as well as his elderly grandmother. Both of them died on the spot and the terrorists fled the scene. Police and security forces have launched a hunt to nab the terrorists responsible for the heinous act. However, Pakistani soldiers resorted to heavy firing on International Border during the last twenty four hours. Reports said that during the intervening nights, Pakistani soldiers resorted to firing at Regal, Chachwal, Chalarian, Khawara, Rathua, Pansar, Bobiya, Karole Krishana, Karple, Matrian, Suchetgarh, Kullian, Galad, Fariqa Chak, Pindi, Pital Post, Jobowal, Kot Kuba, Mehta Post, Zero Point, S H Way, Bandhwal, S M Pura, Kandril, Pathwal, Nariandpur, Chamblyal, Sangaral, Mangal, Karotana, Khatmrian, Abdullian, Gharana, Garani, Nowapind, Jhorafarm, AMK Old-New, Kanachack, Bele Azamat, Pajore, Rajpura, Gol Pattan, Chinor Form posts of this side. No lost of life has been reported from this side. Indian soliders effectively retailated Pakistani firing.
