19 terrorists among 26 killed in J&K

Srinagar: Twenty-six people, including 19 terrorists and four security personnel were killed and 11 injured while security forces foiled an infiltration attempt by Pak-trained terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Tuesday. The infiltration bid was foiled in Naushera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu region when troops gunned down four terrorists near the Line of Control at Rongi Dhara village on Monday night, the spokesman said. He said security forces noticed a group of terrorists trying to infiltrate into the state from across the border and confronted them leading to an encounter which left the four terrorists killed. A large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists, the spokesman said. Four more militants were killed by the security forces in separate encounters during search operations at Kandi Gursai, Gulathi- Mendhar, Malhan-Surankote and Kani-Kasbalari in Poonch district on Tuesday night, the spokesman said. He said a security jawan was killed and two others were wounded during the operations. Security forces killed three unidentified militants in an encounter in Shopian area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Tuesday, official sources said. In another encounter in Pulwama, the sources said a BSF jawan was killed at village Karimabad this afternoon.
