Three killed, 36 Kgs RDX seized in Kashmir

Srinagar: Two top militants and a civilian were killed and 36 kgs of RDX was recovered by BSF from a militant hideout in separate incidents in the Kashmir valley since last night, an official spokesman said on Thursday. Militants shot at and critically wounded two persons after dragging them out of a bus at Habbakadal area of downtown Srinagar on Thursday, he said adding the injured were shifted to hospital where one of them succumbed to his wounds while the other was battling for life. A self-styled company commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Ghulam Mohiuddin Beig alias Colonel Altaf, was killed by troops in an encounter at Dareshpora in Kupwara early on Thursday, the spokesman said. In another encounter, a self-styled battalion commander of Al- Bader, Miran Malik alias Shaheen, was killed by security forces at Lashtiyal area of Kupwara on Wednesday night, he said. The spokesman said militants hurled a grenade and opened fire on a camp housing personnel of Special Operations Group of police at Sirigufwara in Anantnag district on Wednesday night. The SOG personnel retaliated, however no one was injured. BSF, acting on a tip off, recovered 36 kgs of RDX from a militant hideout at Hangalgund in Kokernag area of Anantnag on Monday, the spokesman said.
