Hurriyat sets terms to join polls

SRINAGAR: The All-Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has asked for the Centre’s public assurance on resolution of the Kashmir issue, before agreeing to participate in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections due in October, according to sources.Sources said the members of the 23 separatist groups conglomerate have expressed their willingness to participate in the assembly elections after the US and UK exerted pressure on them to end the turmoil in the state through democratic means. Two senior leaders have agreed to participate, provided the leaders are allowed to visit Pakistan and the Centre announces publicly to resolve the Kashmir issue. Nearly all the executive members are presently camping in New Delhi to discuss the issue.
