Lashker-e-Jabbar asks women to wear burqa

SRINAGAR: Breaking a six-month long silence, Lashker-e-Jabbar (LeJ) militant outfit on Thursday appealed to women to wear the burqa and restrict their movements.''The women in Kashmir should wear the burqa'' the Lej said in a statement after a meeting of the command council here on Thursday.''All mujahideen have been asked to resume their activities from April 1, 2002 and time has come when the activists of the outfit have to exhibit their power'', the statement said.It said that the outfit had suspended its activities for some time after the September 11 attacks in the US but common people, cable operators, hoteliers and others had taken advantage of suspension of the activities of militants and adopted uislamic way of life and indulge in shameful activities.The outfit has also given a call for hartal on March 16 to protest against the statement of BJP MP Vinay Katiyar.
